ANTI - SEXUAL HARASSMENT CELL

The Institution has constituted a Sexual Harassment (Prevention and Redressal) Committee to ensure that the students, teachers and non-teaching staff can work together in an environment free of gender violence, sexual harassment and discrimination on the basis of sex and gender. Students who feel they are victims of sexual harassment can complain in person to the Committee or send an email to svrfgcollege@gmail.com along with details of their name and register number. The written complaint could be given in person to the Coordinator of the Cell

OBJECTIVES

1. To develop the guidelines and norms for a policy against sexual harassment.

2. To develop principles and procedures for combating sexual harassment.

3. To work out details for the implementation of the policy.

4. To prepare a detailed plan of action, both short and long term

CONTENT
RESOLUTION PROCESS/ MECHANISM OF REDRESSAL

The process of conducting an Inquiry shall broadly comprise the following steps:

Milestones Procedure stepwise

Day 1. Valid Complaint received by Internal Committee.

Day2 Within Days 1-3 Prima facie case established by Internal committee

Day 7 Within Days 1-3 The internal committee will conduct the actual inquiry if the case is genuine, interview the `accuser` and accused and witnesses if any other person/ persons the respective committee feels a need to interview to come to a conclusion about the complaint. Prepare a report.

Day 15 Within/By Internal Committee presents the report to the Principal for action/suggestions.

Day 20 Within/By The respective committee sends the final report to the Director and recommends appropriate action.

Day 25 Within/By Inform the accuser about the broad steps taken and against any intimidation.

Day 30 Within/By Initiate action against an accuser, if found guilty.

Day 34 Within/By Accuser / Aggrieved can file an appeal if not satisfied with ACC

CORRECTIVE ACTIONS

A. Corrective action for students

Where the respondent is a student of the Institute and is found guilty of sexual harassment, depending upon the severity of the offense, the IC may recommend any or a combination of the following penalties for sexual harassment or unwelcome sexual conduct - (the following list is not exhaustive)

i Warning, reprimand, or censure.

ii Bar on representing the Institute in any co-curricular/extra-curricular activities.

iii Removal and/or bar on holding any positions of responsibility.

iv Suspension or expulsion from the Institute.


B. Corrective action for Faculty/Non-teaching staff/other employees

If the respondent is an employee of the Institute and is found guilty of sexual harassment, then the IC may recommend any or a combination of the following penalties for sexual harassment or unwelcome sexual conduct - (the following list is not exhaustive)

i Warning, reprimand, or censure.

ii Withholding increments and promotions.

iii Suspension.

iv Termination of employment.
